Arnold Viray

Arnold Viray started shooting during his intermediate school years using a simple compact Kodak film camera with disposable flash.  By 1989, he was using a Minolta film SLR which is owned by his sister, and by 1997, Arnold has his own Canon EOS film SLR.

He stepped into the digital world way ahead of the pack in 2000 when he got a Kodak PalmPix camera for his PalmPilot.  As his interest in digital photography grew, he got a compact Sony Cybershot digital camera in 2003 and has upgraded the following year to a Canon PowerShot digital camera with underwater housing.  With an unquenchable thirst in digital photography, Arnold ventured into digital SLR camera in 2005 and never looked back.

Initially a self-taught photographer, Arnold furthered his studies through several advanced photography courses in digital, studio, product, wedding and portrait under the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. and several known Filipino and American professional photographers like Louie Aguinaldo, Dominique James, John Chua, Jay Alonzo, Allan Razo, Vicki Taufer, Michael Taylor, Bert Behnke and Hanson Fong.

For the past years, Arnold has won several national and global corporate photography awards including Epson EPIX 200 Best Images in 2006, Accenture Global Corporate and the most coveted Canon “Shoot and Run” where he was declared the overall grand winner in that same year, besting over 300 professional and amateur digital SLR photographers.

As a professional photographer, Arnold is into wedding, portrait and event photography in the Philippines.  He continued to do so when he migrated to New Zealand in 2007.  He has done weddings, solo and family portraits, religious and corporate events.  He also regularly
conducts photography workshops.  He is the official photographer of the Sinulog Festival which is held annually in Auckland and is an appointed official photographer by the Philippine Consulate in Auckland for the Philippine (machine-readable) passport in 2010.
